he event, organized by the International Union of Muslim Scholars in cooperation with the Waqf of Muslim Scholars, drew participation from more than 150 scholars from 50 countries in Türkiye. The event, entitled “Gaza: An Islamic and Humanitarian Responsibility” conference, concluded. The concluding declaration of the conference was disseminated to the general public following Friday prayers in the vicinity of Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque. Prior to the declaration’s formal announcement, President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbas observed that the occupying Zionist regime in Palestine had committed an act of genocide in Gaza for the sake of its own sinister objectives, stating: “In the face of this abhorrent attack and genocide, certain world states have provided direct or indirect support to the perpetrators, as if they had been captured by the Zionist occupier.” It is asserted that several deviant communities are responsible for dragging the entire world towards a state of total disaster. President Erbas has stated that the people of Gaza have demonstrated remarkable courage and integrity in their opposition to the Zionist occupiers. He has further asserted that providing support for their noble struggle and combating the ongoing genocide is an imperative of conscience and morality for all individuals, irrespective of their religious, racial, sectarian, or cultural affiliations. This is a matter of law and legitimacy for every state. It is a matter of faith and servitude for every Muslim.” President Erbas articulated the position that, in their belief system, it is considered haram, or religiously forbidden, to be indifferent to oppression and injustice, to remain silent in the face of oppressors and traitors, and to offer direct or indirect support to oppressors, invaders, and murderers, as well as to their supporters. Consequently, there is a universal action that can be taken by all.”
