After Allah’s presence, oneness, names, and qualities, the prophethood is the next topic that is mentioned the most in Islam. Prophethood and faith in prophets are of great importance in religion as it is conveyed to people by the means of prophets, and all issues regarding the religion, especially uluhiyyah (godhead), are known through nubuwwah. Allah the Almighty sent many prophets to be a guide, to set an example for people, and to lead them from the first human Adam (as) and the Last Prophet Muhammad (saw), and he informed people about the religion through His prophets.
The work titled “Faith in Prophets in Islam”, published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, explains that belief in prophets is one of the fundamental principles of Islam. In the work written by Dr. Ferhat Gokce, the importance of believing in the prophets as a requirement of believing in God is discussed. It is noteworthy that when he was asked, “Which deed is best?” our beloved Prophet (saw) said, “Faith in Allah and His Messenger.” (Nasa’i, Iman, 1), which is important to show the relation between faith in prophets and deeds (Islam Through Hadiths, I/563). A person who does not embrace the Prophet, although he/she believe in Allah, actually denies the intervention of the Almighty Creator in the world and human life. So, ignoring the prophets who provide the link between the metaphysical universe and the Creator means ignoring the religion as a whole. The book “Faith in Prophets in Islam” seeks to answer questions such as what faith in prophets means, who a prophet is, nabi and rasul, how the faith in prophets differs in other religions, and why Allah sends prophets. In addition, reasons for choosing the prophets from among people, the number of the prophets and prophets mentioned in the Qur’an, degrees of the prophets, attributes and duties of prophets, prophethood and revelation, proof of the prophethood, miracles, and the last Prophet Muhammad (saw) are discussed. Even though there are some differences in the concept of prophethood, belief in the prophets is a common principle for the divine religions. Prophets are distinguished people who are honored by revelation and possess some superior qualities that are not found in other people. Even though their rules are different, all the prophets invited people to worship Allah and the oneness of Him, and to abandon everything that is worshiped except Him. A religion cannot be conveyed to people and be understood without the prophets. That is why the prophethood is a great blessing for humanity. Therefore, we present this valuable work, which sets out the importance of faith in the prophets in a simple and accessible way, for the benefit of our esteemed readers, and we hope that it will be of benefit to humanity.
